We recently held an induction day for over 30 International Doctor’s who are relocating to practice in the UK. The event was held at the historic Foresight Centre in Liverpool, which was once a hospital where Florence nightingale worked and is now part of the University of Liverpool.
International Doctors offer a great depth and range of clinical skills which are highly desirable in the UK, however the complexity of the UK Healthcare system can leave new arrivals struggling to understand the structure and processes involved in developing their careers. This course was designed to help delegates understand the UK Healthcare system and how to make the most of the opportunities that are available to them.
Sessions were conducted by the British Medical Association, BDO Accountants, Medacs recruitment and Hospital Consultant’s Dr Surya Kakkilaya and Dr Suresh Chhetri. The morning sessions covered topics including VISA’s, Employment and Making your Way in the UK. The afternoon sessions included the UK Tax system, Future career demands in the Health service, How to secure higher speciality training posts and How to avoid and deal with complaints.
